2019-2020 CCC Adult Team Info and Tryouts

With the Fall fast approaching, it’s time to host the CCC Adult Team Tryouts again.

The tryouts is our opportunity to see who is motivated to train and compete this winter. The CCC Adult Teams is our way of helping local athletes to attain their goals.  A driven and social group of motivated climbers can go further together.

There are 3 specific teams: Elite, Pro and Am.  All athletes will benefit from coaching, assessment and professional support. These teams are supported for athletes who wish to compete at the highest levels. If you are interested in coaching, but don’t want to compete, check out our Adult Training Groups.

Elite: Has placed in top of the National field recently.

Pro: Has placed in top of the Provincial field recently.

Amateur: Has participated in competitions previously.

 

TEAM INFORMATION

Elite Team

This team will be remotely coached.
This team is sponsored by the CCC.

Athletes on this team are selected by the selection committee at the end of the try-outs.  This team can be as small as two athletes, and up to 4.

This team will have support from a coach and a manager.

Athletes can train on their own schedule and/or will have the option of two coached sessions per week. Training will be combined with the Pro Team. Coaching support will be given by designing the overall training schedule, keeping workouts on track, identifying daily goals and targeting weaknesses.

Training location will mostly be at Chinook but is expected to move around as needed. Athletes on this team are expected to train multiple times a week, and document their training.

Team Manager will arrange/coordinate additional training support such as:
• Unlimited access to all CCC facilities
• Free team uniform.
• Compensation for all competition registration fees.
• Access to Regular Team Mock Competitions.
• Access to discounted physiotherapy service.
• Ability to use all benefits of a regular CCC Member.
• Travel expenses and support to away competitions will be discussed on a case by case basis.

Expectations
• Elite Team athletes are expected to be self-starters and able to train consistently with a partner.
• The athletes must train and compete wearing the CCC Team uniform.
• The athletes understand that they are public spokespeople for the CCC.
• The athletes are expected to attend local comps, provincials and nationals.
• The athletes will share their passion for climbing by hosting a technique clinic for the CCC membership.

Pro Team
This team is coached by Marc Eveleigh
This team is sponsored by the CCC.

Athletes on this team are selected at the end of the try-outs.  This team can be as small as two athletes, and up to 8.
This team will have support from a coach and a manager.

Coaching will be direct coaching twice a week. Times are Mondays and Wednesdays, 7-10pm.
Location is at the CCC Chinook, unless the coach sets the occasional practice at a different gym. Athletes are expected to train at least once outside formally coached times. There will be regular weekend practices/ coaching available also, Saturdays 8-11am.

Team Manager will arrange/coordinate additional training support such as:
• Unlimited access to all CCC facilities
• Free team uniform.
• Compensation for all competition registration fees.
• Access to Regular Team Mock Competitions.
• Access to discounted physiotherapy service.
• Ability to use all benefits of a regular CCC Member.

Am Team
This team is coached by Jarrett White.
The team fees are $110/month for coaching. This team is sponsored by CCC.
This team will have support from a coach and a manager.

Coaching will be direct coaching twice a week. Times are Tuesdays and Thursdays, 7-10pm.  Location is at the CCC Chinook, unless the coach sets the occasional practice at a different gym. Athletes are expected to train at least once outside formally coached times.  There is also the possibility of extra training/coaching on Saturdays 8-11am.

Team Manager will arrange/coordinate additional training support such as:
• Discounted CCC membership options.
• Free team uniform.
• Free CCC comp registrations
• Access to Regular Team Mock Competitions.
• Access to discounted physiotherapy service.

Expectations
• Am Team athletes are expected to be self-starters and able to train consistently with a partner.
• The athletes should train and compete wearing the CCC Team uniform.
• The athletes understand that they are public spokespeople for the CCC.
• The athletes are expected to attend local comps.

 

ALL TEAMS

All teams will start practices/meetings on MONDAY or Tuesday September 16th/17th.

Teams will run until Boulder Nationals and then we’ll start a lead and speed team for those interested.

 

Adult Tryouts for all teams are September 13th from 6 to 9pm at the CCC Chinook location.

Interested applicants will be interviewed a few times and go through some climbing drills.
There is usually a mix of climbing set problems and a small competition format.
