What is your hardest boulder problem? Hey Sailor V9, at Big Choss, AB

Favourite climbing area?
Acephale , Planet X or even Bataan in the Bow Valley are pretty fantastic, you’ll never run out of quality projects on solid Alberta choss…

What is your greatest climbing strength? When I’m training, climbing or competing I always try and have fun, even if I don’t meet my own expectations for performance, I think the positives tend to outweigh the negatives.

Greatest food weakness? Food is not a weakness.

Favourite bouldering desination? Year after year when the winter seems like it’s never going to end we pack our things and go south to Bishop California. The bouldering there is infinite and inspiring. There are multiple types of rock that let you test yourself on powerful steep terrain as well as on glassy technical faces with terrifying topouts. The hardest part of the whole trip is taking a rest day.

What new climbing/bouldering area is at the top of your list? In September I was fortunate enough to spend some time climbing in Horne Lake, BC on Vancouver Island. The terrain is steep and featured limestone with every type of hold imaginable. Huge tufas and buckets make the climbing three dimensional and pumpy which is totally different from the limestone here in the valley.

What is your hardest boulder problem? Vlade (V10) in Frank Slide Alberta

Favourite climbing area?
Planet X for sure.

What is your greatest climbing strength? That one is hard. I think edges are my thing...but not too big and definitely not too small. And my head space in comps on a good day.

Greatest food weakness? Sometimes when I see a good looking apple pie, I will take it home and eat the whole thing in a matter of minutes.

Favourite bouldering desination? I haven't actually been bouldering outside of Alberta. I'd have to say Frank Slide, only because that's where I've spent the most time.

What new climbing/bouldering area is at the top of your list? I could go all day on this last question. Mallorca, Spain takes the cake for me though. And maybe a bit of Hueco, Texas in there as well!

Adam Currie

Age:31 years young :)

What is your hardest boulder problem? My hardest boulder problem was sending staring into the sun v11 at White Budah Ab. Amazing sit start to Right Potato Bondar. Also a Tie with Evilution ( to the lip ) v10 in Bishop Ca, high and 45deg overhanging. Both would qualify.

Favourite climbing area? My favorite climbing area would have to be Acephale Ab. Over the last three seasons I have been able to climb more hard routes there than anywhere else, the temps are for the most part good and the climbing is great, unless you start breaking holds :( and it is never crowded. The climbing is extremely bouldery and requires strength, technique and a strong will to fall alot.

What is your greatest climbing strength? My greatest climbing strength would have to be my head game, being able to stay calm and focus on the problem was a huge achievement to learn, and it has helped during multiple hard sends. Being able to keep calm when you are high off the ground or getting pumped is extremely hard to do.

Greatest food weakness? My greatest food weakness........is def Dairy Queen Peanut Buster Parfets Mmmmmmm

Favourite bouldering desination? It would have to be Bishop Ca. The setting is breath taking and the bouldering is unmatched. No restrictions and cheap camping :) Everything I have tryed there is world class.

What new climbing/bouldering area is at the top of your list? Some new areas that I am excited to try out would have to be for Bouldering ( Moes Valley Ut ) and for Routes I am excited to go to Planet X next season.

What is your hardest boulder problem? I've just recently started keeping track of the grades I've been climbing (sendage has been a great tool for this). I did 95% man at White Buddha (V8), super cool problem and totally fits my style of climbing. This summer I also sent Army of Darkness (V7) in Moab, Utah. This line is superb! Heel hook, after heel hook. LOVE it.

Favourite climbing area? Sport climbing in Mallorca. I know, kinda weird. Everyone goes there for the DWS but trust me on this one. There is some phenomenal sport in Mallorca; Felanitx, Alaro, Cala Magraner and others. So good.
Moab, Utah. There are so much nearby; sport, trad and bouldering! Mill Creek, Gold Bar Canyon, Big Bend, Ancient Tower. More than enough to keep you busy for a good roadtrip.
Prairie Creek, I have a new found love for this place. Ya, the hike's a little bit tougher than my boulderer cardio can normally handle but it's so worth it.

What is your greatest climbing strength? I think my greatest climbing strength is anything that involves my core. I've trained core long and hard and really feel like it's paid off for me. I recently got a few more ab exercises from some friends out east. They're killer!!

Greatest food weakness? Anything that starts with fo- and ends with -od. I'm definitely a sweets junkie though. I've been commonly referred to as the "skinniest fat kid ever" due to my love of eating huge amounts of sweets (see "eating 4 cream eggs in 1 sitting..." No joke.)

Favourite bouldering desination? It would have to be Bishop Ca. The setting is breath taking and the bouldering is unmatched. No restrictions and cheap camping :) Everything I have tryed there is world class.Prison Gate, Nevada - This place is amazing, partially for the views it offers from higher up, partially due to the plethora of problems yet to be done (and the already established lines) and hugely due to the texture of the rock. Next time I head there, I will be bringing another few layers of skin.
Font - Classic. The moves are so different from what we normally see here. There's a ton of rad problems here and cool locals to chat with.

What new climbing/bouldering area is at the top of your list? I'd really love to go to Thailand (even though that's not really new). I've heard such stellar things, and seen such great pics. I'd also do almost anything to go back to Spain and climb on the mainland. If it's anything like the sport climbing on Mallorca, it would be awesome!!!! City of Rocks - I haven't been yet and have been told it's well worth the trip. Hopefully a long weekend soon I can make it there! Locally, I'd really like to check out Carrot Creek. I haven't had a chance to make it there yet and I've heard nothing but good things.

What is your hardest boulder problem? It would have to be One Mule Wonder V10 in Bishop. It was my first V10 flash so I was pretty psyched.

Favourite climbing area? Rumney in New Hampshire. In the fall there are the best conditions ever with every type of climbing you could ask for.
Railay beach in Thailand as well. Limestone with toufa roof climbs right on the beach and there is also a lot of deep water soloing as well.

What is your greatest climbing strength? Steep, powerful climbing that takes a lot of core. Also have strong open hand strength

Greatest food weakness? Anything you can put in the dessert category but I have a particular addiction to ice cream.

Favourite bouldering desination? Horse Pens 40 (HP40) in Alabama. The nicest sandstone slopers you will ever climb on.

What new climbing/bouldering area is at the top of your list? Spain is definitely at the top of my list. I'm also interested in exploring locally more as I've been here a few years now and there are still quite a few crags I haven't visited yet.

Heather Sawitsky

Name:Heather Sawitsky
Age:27

What is your hardest boulder problem? I don't actually keep track, I just love bouldering for the fun of it! I usually enjoy a good burly overhang or some delicate crimping... sigh!

Favourite climbing area? Railay beach, Thailand, with sweet toufa roof climbs over-looking the most beautiful beaches I've ever seen

What is your greatest climbing strength? Static climbing... slow and steady. I also do well with crimps - small hands!

Greatest food weakness? Chocolate, cheesecake, lasagna, steak, lobster, shrimp, mousse, rhubarb crisp, pie, etc...

Favourite bouldering desination? Fontainebleau, France - soon to be my honeymoon destination!

What new climbing/bouldering area is at the top of your list? There are still so many classic areas that I'm working on! I'll have to get you Calgarians to give me the beta on the new areas that I haven't heard of...

Thu Crosley

Name:Thu Crosley
Age:31

What is your hardest boulder problem? Anything that involves big pectorals and squeezing – so all of the problems in Castlehill, New Zealand!

Favourite climbing area? But I have so many!
Kalymnos, Greece: best vacation spot - fun tufa climbing, great food, getting your scooter fix, and lazing by the beach!
Geyikbayiri, Turkey: best cultural experience – “would you like meat and salata my friend?” (translation: meat is goat)
Taipan Wall, Grampians (Australia): most epic sport climbing - beautiful steep sandstone, esthetic climbing and cute, begging kangaroos
Squamish and Arapiles, Australia: best gear plugging
Acephale and Lake Louise: favourite local crags.

What is your greatest climbing strength? I'm told I can do a mean lock-off/highstep - but I think it's actually that I am a fantastic belayer (come to me for the softest catch in the world!)

Greatest food weakness? Prime rib - I would eat it everyday if my husband would let me.

Favourite bouldering desination? Squamish

What new climbing/bouldering area is at the top of your list? Not new, but Echo Canyon is seeing a lot of route development in the past few years and I would love to spend more time there! Also, Yangshuo, China would be a totally rad place to visit – you realize how privileged you are to travel the world and climb when you go to different places meet the locals.

Kelly Dragery

Name:Kelly Drager
Age:36

What is your hardest boulder problem? Stegosaur V8 Hueco Tanks

Favourite climbing area? Our back yard - other places are nice to visit but I won't be packing up to move any time soon except out to Canmore.

What is your greatest climbing strength? Belief - I believe that I can get stronger, have more to learn and achieve - stagnation (i.e. cease developing) is not an option.

Greatest food weakness? Haha do you know who you are asking - Don's pizza and chocolate anything

Favourite bouldering desination? Hueco, at the moment - but likely more to do with the company (thanks to Kelli Keesey) but I would love to experience Font to make a fair comparison.

What new climbing/bouldering area is at the top of your list? Rodellar, Spain and Fontainebleau, France. Likely to happen sooner...Ten Sleep, Wyoming

Luke Muller

Name:Luke Muller
Age:27

What is your hardest boulder problem? The Egg v11 in squamish is classic.

Favourite climbing area? My favourite climbing area has to be the Rock Lands. south Africa is an amazing place and the Rock Lands are the best. The rock, the style, and the local accommodations can not be beat.

What is your greatest climbing strength? My greatest climbing strength is my determination. I pull hard because I want to, because I need to. My focus and psyche is what drives me to pull harder and harder every day, to overcome injuries and weaknesses.

Greatest food weakness? My greatest food weakness is cookies. I am a legitimate cookie monster. For some reason I can never ever say no to a cookie. It's a little pathetic.

Favourite bouldering desination? My favourite bouldering destination honestly has to be the Calgary Climbing Centre. I know it sounds like a plug, but I love the people, the energy and route setting

What new climbing/bouldering area is at the top of your list? The next big area I want to explore is the Red. It seems to be the hip place to be these days and I feel left out. The routes look fantastic and steep and compelling.

Bonar McCallum

Name:Bonar McCallum
Age:45

What is your hardest boulder problem? I have done a few V8's including checkerboard, mushroom roof, better eat your wheaties.

Favourite climbing area? I love the climbing here in our own Bow Valley. The lookout is one of my favorite crags, if you can manage the approach! Beautiful long sport routes situated high on Grotto mountain, with great views of Canmore and the surrounding area.

What is your greatest climbing strength? I've been told I have good movement and technique, which I need use to its full advantage to hide my basic lack of strength and power. That, and I can dig deep when I need to.

Greatest food weakness? I eat lots of fruit, I've been known to eat a whole box on mandarin oranges in one sitting. I also am fond of steak. Is beer considered a food?

Favourite bouldering desination? Bishop. Nice variation of granite and volcanic tuff, in a beautiful setting in the Eastern Sierras

What new climbing/bouldering area is at the top of your list? There are so many I want to get to, but climbing in Spain looks amazing and would be my destination of choice right now.
